Location:
University of California, Los Angeles
Project Description:
After the 1994 Northridge earthquake, UCLA's beloved and world-class concert hall required extensive seismic repair, strengthening and related architectural work on the building's iconic towers. Strengthening of the towers consisted of the addition of new concrete shear walls. Morley was subsequently contracted to perform an extensive structural upgrade to the entire historic concrete frame structure, including the addition of shear walls and bond beams to nearly 80% of the interior walls. A third contract involved the architectural restoration of classrooms, hallways and the famous 1,841-seat auditorium.
