The Eli and Edyth Broad Center provides state-of-the-art research facilities in a 91,000 sf, five-story, cast-in-place structure with one subterranean level designated for research vivarium. The design features an elaborate curtain wall system surrounded by black granite. Scientists and doctors perform stem cell research in three categories: basic and discovery stem cell research, preclinical research and clinical research using state-of-the-art equipment.

This project has achieved a LEED Gold certification and has been honored as “Laboratory of the Year” by R&D Magazine for its unique sustainability features including a cable-stayed curtain wall and chilled beam system that reduce the need for added HVAC equipment.
