This Los Angeles County funded design-build project features a 15,000 sf gymnasium, a state-of-the art computer lab, multi-purpose room, full commercial kitchen and sculpture commissioned by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission’s Civic Art Program.
The design of the gymnasium incorporates acoustic treatments to enhance the player and observer experience. Architectural elements include arches and tiled roofing. Surrounding areas include the construction of a new parking area for 120 cars, walkways, exterior lighting and landscaping.
Morley Builders coordinated with various entities including the 3rd District Office, The County of LA Department of Parks & Recreation, Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, Civic Arts Department, sculptor and several other consultants from the County with its design-build team members. Communication with all parties yielded an improved quality product that exceeded the County’s scoping requirements. For example, our architectural partner moved on-site during construction to further expedite collaboration. This approach allowed us to quickly resolve construction issues “in the field” which assisted in milestone planning and minimized disruptions within an active public park.
