Morley performed all structural and architectural concrete services for this nine-building educational campus dedicated to visual and performing arts in downtown Los Angeles. The campus features a 140 foot tower and a grand stair at the school’s primary entrance.
While the design intent included an “as-cast” finish for all architectural concrete walls, it was imperative for Morley to create detailed lift plans so form breaks would appear at construction joint locations. Mock-ups were created to confirm tie-hole shape and pattern, plywood panel joint pattern, and reveal shape and pattern. In total, 27,263 cubic yards of concrete were placed and 67,500 square feet of walls (about 50%) were architectural.
