Doheny Library is a five-story, 1931 Northern Italian Romanesque-style building eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The historic, hand-painted ceiling in the reference room was painstakingly cleaned and retouched; while rich marbles, stained glass, travertine and iron fixtures were prudently protected throughout earthquake repair, structural strengthening and modernization work.
