Built for the San Diego Padres, this 42,000- seat major league baseball stadium and garden building was constructed of cast-in-place concrete, precast concrete and structural steel. The ballpark was designed with irregular angles traversing around the bowl for fans to directly view the infield. To combat potential construction conflicts, Morley used state-of-the-art layout software which computed coordinates accurate to within one one-hundredth of an inch.
Morley used 60,000 cy of concrete for foundations, slab-on-grade, raker beams and elevated seating areas. Over 130 skilled concrete tradespeople were required at the height of construction.
Morley’s scope of work also included a major seismic renovation to the existing Western Metals Building.
