Supporting the need for more affordable senior housing in downtown Los Angeles and utilizing HUD funding incentives, Hope Place Housing Corporation secured this 1927 medical office building for conversion to an 88-unit residential complex.
Seismic strengthening of the existing nine-story, Type I concrete frame was critical, following extensive damage in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The structural repair included the installation of new shear walls, drilling and grouting of dowels and enlargement of footings. New MEP systems, elevator modernization and modern fire and life safety systems were added.
