Norton Simon Museum Exterior Improvements

Norton Simon Museum Exterior Improvements

The Norton Simon Museum is a non-profit art institution and is eligible as a historic resource by the City of Pasadena. To prepare for its 50th anniversary, the Museum is undertaking an exterior renovation to enhance the beauty, safety, and accessibility of its campus. The project comprises 272,900 square feet of sitework including enhancing and replacing perimeter landscaping; installing new perimeter fencing and gates; and signage and wayfinding. Scope also includes restoration of the 82,000-square-foot building façade, clad with approximately 115,000 original tiles which will be cleaned, repaired, and where necessary, replaced.

The project includes significant upgrades to the Sculpture Garden, such as pond reconstruction, improved pathways, new seating, and enhanced landscaping. These changes will preserve the garden’s iconic design while improving sustainability and visitor experience. Additional improvements include redesigned signage for better visibility, upgraded pedestrian and vehicular entryways, and enhanced security features.

The museum will remain open throughout construction, adding another layer of complexity.
