Crossroads School Science Education and Research Facility

The new state-of-the-art Science Education & Research Facility is a two-story, 25,000 sf building with 12 classrooms that houses the school’s Middle and Upper science programs at the Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences. The project includes a Special Projects Pavilion for small break out groups and faculty preparation spaces linked to all of the classrooms, promoting collaboration among the teaching staff. Additional elements include glass facades, a decorative and multicolored shotcrete wall, rooftop living laboratory and a wind and gravity activated kinetic sculpture designed by world-renowned artist Ned Kahn.

Sustainable elements include nearby access to public transportation (bus and subway), water efficient landscaping, a storm water retention system, LED lighting throughout, photo voltaic paneling and utilization of low-VOC materials.
