Pacific Center is a new life science campus in Sorrento Mesa, a San Diego neighborhood known as one of the nation’s fastest growing hubs for life sciences and innovation. The campus build-out contains four new structures, three of which were completed in this first phase. Phase 1 includes 500,000 rentable square feet of state-of-the-art scientific research space, an amenity center, and a parking facility.
Morley provided concrete subcontracting services for Building B, a six-story cast-in-place concrete structure with one level below grade and six elevated decks. The 213,500-square-foot project required over 16,000 cubic yards of concrete and features tapered cantilevered concrete deck edges. The structure was primarily core and shell, with the rest to be built out under future tenant improvements. The project is targeting LEED Gold certification.
